CHALHOUB GROUP GREENHOUSE
IS LOOKING FOR RETAIL-TECH STARTUPS
submissions now open for a 3 month accelerator program
A space dedicated to corporate entrepreneurship. A unique program focused on accelerating technology-driven solutions, providing startups with unparalleled access to Chalhoub Group brands to implement and test their solutions.
After the early success of its inaugural cohort, which wrapped up their 3-month intensive program in December 2018, The Greenhouse is looking for the next set of startups focused on solving the Group’s business challenges. The Greenhouse opened applications until February 22nd, for the second cohort to join their accelerator program, which is expected to kick-off at the beginning of April and run until June 2019, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Greenhouse offers market access to post-MVP startups to pilot their solutions by working closely with the Group’s brand managers and corporate sponsors. Designed from the ground up with business owners to focus on their specific needs, the program is focused around carrying out pilots and case studies with brands from the Group.
The challenges they are looking to tackle in the upcoming SS19 Cohort are:
• Improving the in-store experience
• Operations, and supply chain optimization
• Connecting the online and offline store experience
• Consumer research and data
Each of the 5 selected startups will receive a $20,000 grant for a three-month, equity-free accelerator program offering them market access and retail expertise through the Group’s partnerships with over 300 brands, more than 600 retail outlets and in-depth regional coverage of 14 countries. Through targeted matchmaking and introductions – startups are quick to get well-acquainted with the Group; offering a roadmap to prioritize and optimize their 3-months in Dubai.
“The first cohort of startups joined in September 2018 and the results have been impressive; with 5 startups working with 6 local and international luxury brands, 8 Proof-of-Concepts and 3 commercial talks in progress.
Of those, four startups are back in Dubai for at least 3 more months to develop their ideas, aiming to sign commercial agreements with brands across the Group.” said Dina Sidani, Head of the Greenhouse. Working out of a brand new co-working space, the five startups (StoreDNA, SizeMe, PhygitalMind, EuroPass & Brandquad) were exposed to a multitude of key decision-makers within the Group and beyond; an opportunity to achieve tangible results within a short period. Check out this video for a glimpse of StoreDNA’s POC with Tory Burch.
“The program is very-well organized with concrete outcomes and KPIs – it gives entrepreneurs the chance to connect with like-minds; we are very glad and proud to be part of this highly productive program, and strongly recommend qualifying startups to apply.” commented Alaattin Turyan, co-founder of PhygitalMind.
The Greenhouse space is located in Dubai Design District, dedicated for startups of the accelerator program and the internal incubator of the Group “Ibtikar” – alongside a dynamic and rigorous events program.
The events will feature founder stories, workshops, hackathons and training sessions for Chalhoub team members and selected partners across the community. Through the exposure and interaction with startups, this entrepreneurial culture will infuse beyond The Greenhouse, accelerating the Group’s digital and culture transformation.
