Empower celebrates its 15 years of achievements and honours employees who showed 5 and 10 years of excellence

Dubai, UAE, 4th January 2019: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, celebrated the 15 years since its establishment during the company’s annual ceremony that honoured its employees, from different departments, who have completed 5 and 10 years of service. The ceremony which brought together a number of executives, managers and staff, was held at Hilton Al Habtoor Hotel, at the Dubai Waterway and was headed by Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, to celebrate the achievements of the company and the 15 years of providing efficient district cooling services.
Empower honours its outstanding employees every year to highlight the company’s commitment to promote team spirit and dedication among its staff, and to recognise their diligent efforts in the advancement of work. This is one of the main reasons for Empower’s success, and part of its strategy to enhance the skills and capabilities of its employees.

“Our 15-years of success is the result of our employees’ efforts and hard work that have led to constantly making new achievements. We are committed to maintaining a transparent and empowering work environment. Hence, this celebration reflects our strategy of supporting our employees’ on-ground. Empower has succeeded in becoming the world’s largest district cooling services provider, and we are holding this meeting with our employees to congratulate them on their excellence and dedication at work. This contributes to adding positive competition to motivate them to continue excelling,” said Bin Shafar.

Bin Shafar reviewed Empower’s achievements, notably achieving a net profit that exceeds AED 800 million in 2018, and unveiling of Empower’s new headquarters. The CEO also reviewed signing of agreements with major projects in 2018 including the Dubai Waterfront project, Al Barari project, in addition to the company’s new cooling plants in Barsha Heights and Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) and enhancing credibility of the industry among banks, financial and other institutions. Empower settled loans worth AED 672 million (USD 183 million) ahead of its schedule. With these repayments, Empower has fully settled its bank borrowings, for a total value of AED 2.67 billion (USD 728 million), and closed its books with “Zero Debt” balance in 2018. Empower has received four IDEA Innovation Awards in 2018 for the ‘360 Solution for Metering Artificial Intelligence, AIMS 360’, IDEA Innovation Awards for the ‘Energy Transfer Solution Flow Control Optimisation Using Statistical Process Control’, Gold Award for Total Number of Buildings Committed and Gold Award for Total Building Area Committed, in addition to Dubai being crowned as the ‘Champion city for District Cooling’.

Empower has more than 1,090 buildings that are using district cooling services, catering to around 100,000 customers. The company operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tonnes (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, amongst others.
