Level I passed, II & III to go
Zayed University Student Bags the CFA Level I Exam
Abu Dhabi – October 20, 2018 : Amna Khaled Al Kaabi, an undergraduate Finance major from the College of Business, Zayed University, was recently honored by His Excellency, Professor Reyadh Al Mehaideb, Zayed University Vice-President, together with His Excellency Amer Khansaheb, President of CFA Society Emirates, at the Zayed University campus in Abu Dhabi, for passing the Level I Exam for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
She received an award for ‘The First Emirati Female Student’ from ZU’s new CFA Level 1 Preparation Course to pass the CFA level I Exam. Candidates must also pass exams for Levels II and III and satisfy a work experience requirement to eventually attain the prestigious, internationally-recognized CFA designation. Prof. Al Mehaideb congratulated Mr. Khaled Al Kaabi, who received the honor on behalf of his daughter, saying that, “Our recent alliance with CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program, which is considered the first of its kind in the Abu Dhabi and Dubai, gave us great honor to harvest an outstanding performer such as Amna. She joins, with dedication, hundreds of outstanding Emiratis who passed the CFA Level I Exam.”
“Today, Zayed University enjoys a curriculum that is closely tied to the practice of investment management and heightens awareness of ethics in daily practice at an early stage. We are adequately capable of preparing our students to sit for the CFA exams and pass, thanks to the highly dedicated faculty team,” AlMehaideb said.
CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program recognizes ZU as an academic institution that embeds a significant portion of the CFA® Program Candidate Body of Knowledge™ (CBOK) into their curriculum.. Coming to fruitful cooperation with other universities around the world, Zayed University established a new network that promotes ethics-based investment education in university degree programs aimed at developing investment professionals.
For his part His Excellency Amer Khansaheb, CFA, President of CFA Society Emirates, congratulated Amna for her success saying: “Passing a CFA exam takes a lot of hard work and great commitment over many months, and to be able to do it while studying other courses in University demonstrates an even higher level of dedication. This is exactly what is needed in today’s Investment world and in the country. The UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda is focused on transitioning human capital to a knowledge-based economy, and a key part of this is unlocking the potential of nationals so that they can be a driving force behind the UAE’s economic development. In this context, Amna is truly an Emirati to be proud of as she has demonstrated the ambition required to contribute towards the future of the country’s economy.”
Amna was proud to be the first Emirati female student to pass the Level I Exam from ZU’s new program, stating “I would like to begin by thanking my family for supporting me and guiding me towards every possible route to success, and Zayed University for giving me all possible means and tools to study and improve my skills. For three rigid months, I paid full attention and tirelessly studied back at home even during my weekends, it was not an easy task, it was the hardest examination I’ve ever had.”
She pointed out that only 43 percent of those examined, actually pass. “The exam requires at least 300 hours of study. We cover a large number of subjects. My colleagues and I studied after university attendance hours; then we met our teachers every Saturday to gain further knowledge of our uncertainties.”
“After passing the Level I Exam, I gained the confidence to complete Level II and Level III, and I plan to join an international firm to fill the required hours of practical field experience, which accumulates to almost four years, to finally obtain the international charted financial analyst accreditation,” she said.
