Cigna Park Run Returns for Second Edition with 800 Participants
Monthly sporting event promotes heart health awareness with onsite blood pressure screenings
Dubai-UAE: 7 October 2018 – The second edition of the Cigna Park Run, a community outreach event aimed at promoting an active lifestyle, attracted 800 participants and more than 350 attendees to Zabeel Park over the weekend.
Cigna Insurance Middle East, a global health services provider, hosted its monthly sporting event that falls within the framework of its world-class health proposition after an extended summer break. The run seeks to encourage UAE residents to prioritize their physical well-being and enjoy a community day out at their local neighborhood park.
On the sidelines of the timed run with a choice of a 2.5-km and a 5-km course, attendees could also benefit from mobile blood pressure screening clinics, courtesy of Cigna’s newly launched CSR initiative, Cigna Heart Your Heart. The campaign champions heart health across the UAE and drives home the importance of preventive screenings, especially for high blood pressure, in diagnosing heart conditions.
In addition, the venue featured a wide variety of health and fitness activities. Qualified personal trainers offered lifestyle advice at dedicated stations and demonstrated warm-up techniques prior to the run. Visitors also got to try out the Cigna Wellbeing™ app that, among other functions, carries out general health assessments to generate personalized health management plans.
The event featured several competitions, including the Spin the Wheel challenge that rewarded contestants with fitness-themed gifts for performing tasked exercises. In addition, Cigna volunteers encouraged participants to snap pictures at the Heart Beat stand and share their best heart health advice on social media for a chance to win a Fitbit, a Guava Pass or a zipline experience.
Arthur Cozad, CEO of Cigna Insurance Middle East, said: “Giving back to the community is at the heart of our initiatives, and we are delighted to bring back the Cigna Park Run. The event aligns perfectly with the Cigna Heart Your Heart campaign that reinforces heart health awareness and motivates the public to adopt healthy habits.”
He added: “Set to become a staple feature at upcoming runs, our onsite screenings enable the attendees to continually monitor their health and detect any issues early on, before they become serious.”
The Cigna Park Run is organized by Race.ME and open to all. A one-time registration fee of AED100 covers entry to all the subsequent events for the year. The next run will take place on November 3, 2018.
