Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and Managing Director, VPS Healthcare, said, “We believe that the process of healing is much more than curing a medical condition in a clinical environment. Our goal has always been to provide ‘feel good factor’ coupled with our medical expertise to help people relax and eventually help in their healing. Our collaboration with Etihad Modern Art Gallery is also driven by this goal.”

“Burjeel reinforces the creativity of the artists and we are pleased to provide our hospital as a canvass to promulgate the aesthetic value of arts in healing the patients, thus, supporting our mantra – the art of healing,” added Amir Firdaus, CEO – Burjeel Group.

The Chairman of EMAG Group, His Excellency Khalid Sedeeq Al Muttawaa said, “We are the generation that witnessed the creation of the union, and we’re proud to have seen the dynamic development and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates since its inception until now. We have exciting initiatives and plans coming up for the local art community as we are always searching for something unique, so the public can expect surprises. Etihad Modern Art Gallery hopes that art will continue to play a major role in developing the community, supporting cultural heritage and pass to future generations of the United Arab Emirates. This is very important, first for the country, for the kids and people in general. It’s very important to know who we are and there are so many things for us to see. The works we display show appreciation to the land by those who come and experience the country and its bounty.

About Etihad Modern Art Gallery

Etihad Modern Art Gallery (EMAG) is a multi-purpose art space and in the heart of the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. The owner, H.E. Khalid Sedeeq Al Mutawaa envisioned a friendly and versatile art space that is open to everyone, which encouraged the promotion, discussion and growing appreciation of the burgeoning Emirati art scene. Opening in 2013, EMAG organized significant art shows and local heritage exhibitions, creating bonds with the international art scene and academic institutions. We achieved this by inviting international artists to live, teach and create in the UAE, motivating local artists to showcase their work and hosting a wide range of parallel cultural activities like art workshops, poetry nights and music events. In December 2016, EMAG was the first ever privately- funded gallery from the UAE to host a large-scale exhibition in Berlin, the art capital of Europe. The “Art Nomads: Made in Emirates’ exhibition announced the arrival of Emirati artists in the international art world with numerous excellent reviews in German and international media, including Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

During 2017, EMAG continued the promotion of excellent Emirati and UAE-based international artists with a presence in celebrated Art Fairs around the world. The goal of EMAG is a continuous progression of the art scene in Abu Dhabi, as well as promoting Emirati traditions, culture, and art to a wider global audience. We aim to open a dialogue with the public and introduce new cultural concepts, whilst promoting the environmentally-conscious vision of our founder, H.E. Khalid Sedeeq Al Mutawaa.
