United Arab Emirates, September 5, 2018 – Deezer, the world’s most personal music service, has revealed the world’s most popular workout music genres and songs played on Fitbit wrists. Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris’ One Kiss snatches the crown with a speedy 124 beats per minute (BPM), supporting sports science theories that cranking up the music tempo encourages people to work out harder, faster and often longer.
Since announcing a global music partnership with Fitbit in spring 2018, Deezer has provided Fitbit smartwatch users an on-board music experience, giving them access to more than 53 million songs and 12 themed playlists to motivate them on their fitness journey. Deezer has since been making workouts easy and motivational for Fitbit users by providing them with specially curated fitness playlists, including Run Mix, Marathon Training Mix, Gym Mix, Bike Mix and Powerwalking Mix, all of which can be synced and enjoyed on Fitbit Versa™, Fitbit Ionic™ and and Fitbit Ionic: adidas edition™ smartwatches.
Deezer’s music content allows fitness fanatics to play their favourite playlists, workout mixes and use Deezer’s signature feature, Flow. Deezer Listening Trends Fueling Fitbit Workouts Around the Globe:
Deezer evaluated the most popular tracks from Fitbit smartwatch users around the globe and discovered that in addition to Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris’ One Kiss, upbeat tracks from global artists such as Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, Camila Cabello’s Havana and Marshmello & Anne-Marie’s FRIENDS kept fitness fans moving to the beat.
Across the US, UK, France and Germany fast-paced music tracks are the most popular for a workout. However, research shows that people across the globe opt for a completely different set of songs when gearing up to sweat.
Drake’s God’s Plan hits the number one spot in the US for Deezer downloads on Fitbit. Nineties nostalgia appears to keep US Fitbit users moving with Destiny’s Child Lose My Breath hitting most streamed track on Deezer’s Fitbit Gym Mix, despite its release over 14 years ago. Deezer’s data also shows that Americans often accompany a workout routine with Deezer Next artist Zak Abel’s empowering track, Love Song.
Brits prefer to sweat to Dua Lipa’s One Kiss when finding inspiration for a workout, with other iconic artists including Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, Drake, Lil Dicky and Little Mix high up on the music list for raising heart rates.
In France, where house music is famously popular in nightclubs, many local Fitbit users are enjoying DJ duo Ofenbach’s hit tracks Katchi and Be Mine when they get in the zone for a big workout. The French are also most likely to pound the pavement to the beats of Cuban-American Camila Cabello’s Havana.
Germans searching for the perfect workout track are most likely to choose local rapper Olexesh’s song Magisch.
Global data also indicates that fitness enthusiasts are choosing particular playlists to fuel specific types of workouts, with Jack Ãœ most popular for running. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is best for a marathon session, Destiny’s Child for a gym session and Kodomo and Small Black for cycling and walking.
Robin Vincent Global Moods Editor from Deezer says: “Music can be an incredible motivator when it comes to hitting the treadmill and reaching fitness goals, and it’s great to see so many people across the world giving their workout a boost with Deezer and Flow. It’s always nice to leave the phone at home while working out and, with Fitbit, people in different countries can listen to the songs they want on personalised playlists for running, cycling, walking and hitting the gym!”
