29 May 2018 Dubai: In keeping with Westin’s ‘Move Well’ philosophy Designed to inspire empowerment and support the Westin’s ‘Move Well’ philosophy, fitness fans are invited to lace up their gym shoes for an evening of running, recharging and relaxing with the Westin Al Habtoor City hotel.
As part of Global Running Day, the hotel’s specialist Running Concierge will lead a fun five-kilometer jog along the banks of the Dubai Water Canal before heading back to the hotel for healthy snacks and a chance to soothe any aching muscles at the spa.
Taking place at 9pm on Wednesday, June 6, the free event is the perfect opportunity to shake off any post-iftar lethargy and enjoy an outdoor workout session in the cooler evening temperatures.
Before setting off, the hotel’s Running Concierge will lead the group through a series of gentle stretches and warm up exercises. The joggers will then follow a specially marked 5km ‘RUN Westin’ track along the stunning Dubai Water Canal promenade.
Once the run is finished, and after quick a cool down session back at the hotel, runners can refuel with a selection of healthy refreshments and snacks from SuperFoodsRX before enjoying the facilities at the Heavenly Spa.
The Heavenly Spa will remain open until midnight, meaning those participating in the event will have ample time to unwind and relax in the jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms.
Members of the public of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to come along, with the hotel’s Running Concierge on hand to offer tips and advice to beginners and regular runners alike.
Anyone interested in taking part can register with the hotel in advance by logging on to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/runwestin-after-dark-tickets-46480118285. Limited spaces available.
First launched in 2016, each year Global Running Day sees millions of people around the world take part in a host of running events to raise money for charity and to encourage people to lead a healthier and more active life.
Amanda Schmeige, Complex Director of Spa, Al Habtoor City said: “Global Running Day is the perfect opportunity for people to discover a love for running and to make a healthy change to their lives. With people’s increasingly sedentary lifestyle these days, it is really important to keep active particularly during the hotter summer months and Ramadan when working out can seem like a really daunting task.”
“This free running event will take place after sunset, meaning those who are fasting can enjoy an iftar with family and friends before taking part in a great workout, not to mention the chance to try a selection of healthy snacks and a reenergizing spa session afterwards.”
