The AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018, to be held from April 6 to 20, will be the 19th edition of the most prestigious women’s tournament on the continent and the first ever to be held in West Asia.

Switzerland, La Chaux-de-Fonds, 29th March 2018: Today, TAG Heuer is very proud to officially launch the countdown to the next AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018. The Swiss watch brand announced two years ago a major agreement with Asian Football Confederation (AFC), to become Official Timekeeper of the most important football competitions in Asia including the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup is a competition in women’s football for national teams from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The first competition was held in 1975 and then every two years – except for a period in the 1980’s where the competition was held every three years. In total, 18 tournaments have been held so far, with the current champions being Japan.

The 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup will start on April 6th with a final on April 20th. It will be the first time the competition will be held in Jordan, but also in West Asia. Eight teams will be competing to become the champions in Jordan: Japan, Australia (winner in 2010), China PR (eight times champions), Thailand (winner in 1983), Korea Republic, Vietnam, Philippines and Jordan.

Teams have been drawn into two groups of four, with Group A featuring Jordan, China PR, Thailand and the Philippines and Group B comprising Japan, Australia, Korea Republic and Vietnam. Matches will be held at Amman International Stadium and King Abdullah II Stadium, both in the Jordanian capital, with the final to be contested at the former on April 20. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals and also qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France in 2019.
