New homegrown eatery launches in The Yard
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 18 March 2018: The contemporary homegrown eatery Homestead Restaurant and Bakery is the latest in a long line of food and beverage concepts to open its doors at Dubai’s eclectic new destination The Yard, located in the neighbourhood of Al Khawaneej.
The city’s latest foodie haven aims to attract residents from the local community and beyond. Its charming and creatively upcycled barn-like ambience seamlessly blends in with the surrounding rural hinterland.
With its warm and relaxed vibe, Homestead offers visitors a home-away-from-home experience, inviting them to socialise and unwind in a laid-back atmosphere. Meanwhile, fans of alfresco dining can enjoy resplendent views of a tranquil lake complete with a picturesque esplanade and a floral canopy bridge.
Seating 234 guests and spanning 808.4 square metres, the novel concept encompasses a full-fledged restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an adjoining in-house bakery and pastry kitchen that serves handcrafted artisanal bread, pastries, and cakes all day.
The interiors have been carefully styled to reflect the distinct character of each half of the outlet’s twofold offering. While the restaurant mixes upholstered antiques with contemporary furnishings in a melange of colours, the bakery’s muted pastel tones create a casual setting.
A must-visit for any foodie in Dubai, the restaurant offers a multitude of wholesome traditional cuisines to choose from, including Emirati, Indian, and Persian with a local twist, as well as popular international favourites. Using organic and sustainably sourced ingredients where possible, the menu also includes detox options.
Renowned head chef Mahmoud Efranjyeh, one of the leading contenders on the 2017 season of the popular MBC reality show Top Chef, has put his well-honed skills to work in creating the menu that has something for everyone. The wide-ranging selection features mouth-watering authentic dishes – including lamb machbous, diyay tahta, kebab Emirati, butter chicken, saffron risotto, double-baked goat cheese and walnut soufflé, and healthy salads – that will appeal to the most discerning of Dubai’s multicultural diners.
Head pastry chef Marinos Kosmas is the man behind the peach melba, labneh saffron cheesecake, saffron milk cake, and Greek-style savoury pies including spanakopita.
Meanwhile, bakery chef Dave adds his unique expertise to the mix with breads such as wild yeast sourdough, ciabatta, and chebabs, baked fresh every day.
The restaurant also boasts an impressive drinks menu, serving a choice of traditional coffee and organic tea, detox juices, aromatic herb-infused drinks, and specialty concoctions such as mango cardamom lassi, vegan choco banana smoothie, and celery pineapple chia smoothie.
The eatery includes a retail element that sells organic honey, tea, and freshly baked bread onsite.
Presenting a budget-friendly eating-out option, the average price of a meal for two is AED150, while a quick coffee and a croissant cost roughly AED30.
