Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of this year’s event was the Arabic Fashion Awards. Established and aspiring fashion designers alike were given the opportunity to showcase the most stylish Arabic designs to an enthusiastic crowd. On Saturday January 28th, HamamieAsfaw was crowned the winner of the Arabic Fashion Awards. Her design was lauded by both the judges and the audience. BRIDEInspired by falconry, Hamamie has said, “The theme of my design is the Falcon. The wings and wing span of the falcon is represented in the shawl. Dubai, UAE; January 31, 2017: Emaar Malls (DFM: EMAARMALLS), the shopping malls and retail business majority-owned by global property developer Emaar Properties, has recorded a net profit of AED 1.874 billion (US$ 510 million) during 2016, an increase of 13 per cent over the full-year 2015 net profit of AED 1.656 billion (US$ 451 million). FY 2016 revenue recorded a growth of 8 per cent to AED 3.227 billion (US$ 879 million) compared to FY 2015 revenue of AED 2.992 billion (US$ 815 million).


Emaar Malls reported a growth in fourth-quarter (October to December 2016) net profit by 4 per cent to AED 452 million (US$ 123 million), compared to the Q4 2015 net profit of AED 435 million (US$ 118 million).


Revenue for Q4 2016 increased to AED 835 million (US$ 227 million), which is 8 per cent more than Q3 2016 revenue of AED 774 million (US$ 211 million).


The shopping malls assets of Emaar Malls – The Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Souk Al Bahar, Gold & Diamond Park and the community shopping centres – welcomed 125 million visitors during 2016, similar to annual footfall during 2015.


The Dubai Mall set a similar footfall level of 80 million visitors for three consecutive years despite ongoing expansion in and around the mall, reiterating its reputation as the world’s most-visited retail and lifestyle destination. The gross leasable area (GLA) occupancy levels averaged 96 per cent during 2016.

With a gross leasable area of about 6 million sq ft in Dubai, Emaar Malls is expanding The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue by another 1 million sq ft built-up area. Over 150 international brands will be added apart from some of Dubai’s first international F&B and leisure choices. Additionally, new retail and leisure opportunities are being created for retailers and customers with the Boulevard, Fountain Views and Zabeel expansions of The Dubai Mall.


Set to redefine Dubai’s retail sector are other mega-retail precincts being developed by Emaar Malls in Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Hills Estate. The first will be linked to The Tower, the iconic structure at the mega-development set to become the city’s prestigious new tourist attraction.


A number of other community mall projects are also being planned to serve Emaar’s integrated lifestyle developments. Following the successful opening of The Ranches Souk in Arabian Ranches II, The Souk is being expanded to future community malls projects. UAE, January 31, 2017 –The Ministry of Health and Prevention has launched the latest ‘Health Mirror service’ and the newest device for laboratoryanalysis of blood samples as part of its efforts to offer innovative services to the general public. The unveiling was made during its participation at the ‘Arab Health 2017’ exhibition and conference held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from January 30 to February2, 2017.

Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health and Prevention – Hospitals Sector, said this development reflects the Ministry’s keenness on improving the local healthcare sector in accordance with the national strategy to promote science, technology and innovation in the country. The national strategy strives to buildlocal and international partnerships and bring cutting-edge medical technology to the UAE in a bid to continuously improve the local health system, develop world-class facilities,and ensure people’s accessibility to quality health services in accordance with international standards.


Dr. Al Serkalexplained that the unique and one-of-a-kind ‘Health Mirror service’ technology is being offered for the first time in the Middle East. It works by conducting a comprehensive body scanning using the ‘PRO MYBIODI’ smart device to get a patient’s health status and identify the biomarkers in about a minute. The collected data can serve as a health guide and initial diagnosis before a patient is sent for laboratory and other medical tests. This reflects the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s keenness to add the latest medical equipment to its facilities, in addition to providing quality health services according to the highest international standards.

As for the new device for blood lab analysis, Dr. Al Serkalsaid that the Ministry has partnered with Atellica ™ Solutions Siemens. Also a first in the Middle East, the device is equipped with an exclusive feature that enables transfer of blood samples 10 times faster than conventional systems. It is flexible, has the ability to handle different work rates, and easily scalable to deal with more than 30 types of samples.

Dr. Kulthum, Mohammed Al Balushi, Director of the Ministry’s Hospital Management, said: “This device allows multiple vision cameras and intelligent systems for sample distribution and quality check to achieve better regulation and control of all samples. The innovative system can be used as a separate solution as connected solutions up to 10 units built together up to 300 different design and that including straight designs or in the form of L or U, it can also be connected to a mechanism system which raises services for various laboratory sections.”

One can also use similar types of operating solutions on different models from different locations, allowing for easy management of laboratory work, better inventory solutions, enhanced operating performance, and accurate results. AnImmunoassay device can produce more than 400 results per hour, which is considered the fastest in terms of productivity compared tothe used space in the field of medical tests. Other benefits includesurveillance and remote control to ensure readiness of work for longerperiods, in addition to a wide range of functionalities developed based on scientifically proven and practical techniques.
