A new innovative class that aims to motivate and inspire all who take part

GCC, December 2016:Fitness First, the regions leading fitness brands, has announced the launch of a new group trainingprogram, 6D, launching across all UAE clubs starting 1stJanuary, and across all other Middle Eastclubs on 1st January 2017. The 6D programis an entirely new fitness concept adding to the already extensive list of Fitness First group exercise classes.

6D is a results driven 30 minute HIIT program, created based on 6 dimensions of fitness: MOVE, LIFT, CORE, BURN, FUNCTION & RECOVER. 6D brings a brand-newfitness concept to members who want to increase their endurance and see results fast. The high-octane nature of the classes are ideally suited for shedding pounds and sculpting bodies. The concept will feature six different stations all focusing on particular movements intended to drive the heart-rate up and target specific muscle groups. Members will work for 45 seconds and rest for 15 seconds as they rotate from station to station over the course of each class which will be approximately 30 minutes long and can burn up to 600 calories per class.

To keep members engaged and motivated, the 6D program will be refreshed and varied with a brand-new program with different movements every 2 weeks, keeping the workout game strong and targeting the entire body to generate fast and efficient results.Members from any fitness level can join and work at their own intensity, making the training concept available to all. The program is also linked to the Fitness First MYZONEtoo, which is an application that gives live feedback to members who are registered throughout their workouts allowing members to track their progress in terms of effort exerted, duration of workout, calories burned and heart rate monitoring.

Each of the sixdimensions has a specific movement pattern, which will hit more than one muscle group at a time to optimize fat burning, increase strength, co-ordinationand maximize workout efficiency. The classes will be led by qualified 6D coaches whom have also completed thorough6D training, including specific courses on the individual fitness tools which are used within the 6D program. Each class can accommodate a maximum of 12 members which ensures a singular focus from the coach on each and every member to ensure proper form and safety. It is a gym floor based class which allows increased development in fitness due to its supportive group atmosphere.

Dubai has just become home to the largest theme park destination in the Middle East, as Dubai Parks and Resorts officially opens for business.

 

Dubai Parks and Resorts is a mega new destination comprising three separate theme parks, a water park, a uniquely themed dining and retail district and a Polynesian themed family hotel covering 30.6 million square feet: The destination includes LEGOLAND® Dubai, the region’s first LEGOLAND®; a Hollywood-inspired park called MOTIONGATE™ Dubai; and Bollywood Parks is the world’s first Bollywood theme park based on some of its biggest blockbusters.

Dubai, UAE – 17 December 2016: At a press conference today in front of the world’s media, Dubai Parks and Resorts marked the opening of its third theme park, MOTIONGATE™ Dubai and confirmed the destination’s inauguration ceremony will take place tomorrow in the presence of UAE dignitaries.

 

Over 1,500 of the world’s media, UAE dignitaries and celebrities will attend the formal inauguration of Dubai Parks and Resorts, the region’s leading theme park destination.  200 children have also been invited to attend the event in cooperation with the Awqaf and Minors affairs foundation and the Make A Wish Foundation.

The event, which is being held in a specially built arena over the river at Riverland™ Dubai, will showcase each of its three theme parks in a very special show involving the dancers and actors from Dubai Parks and Resorts’ live entertainment team.

 

The show will also feature a live performance of the Dubai Parks and Resorts official theme song entitled “All the Wonders of the Universe” by the composer himself, academy award winner Alan Menken who has written the scores for many of the world’s most famous animated movies.

 

The finale will light up the sky above the 30.6 million square feet destination with a pyrotechnic spectacular.

 

The show will be filmed live by the official media partner, Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) and screened for guests in the parks and for residents and visitors at locations across Dubai.

 

The festivity marks the official inauguration of all three theme parks: MOTIONGATE™ Dubai, the first ever collaboration between three of Hollywood’s most legendary studios, Columbia Pictures, DreamWorks and Lionsgate; LEGOLAND® Dubai, the first LEGOLAND theme park in the Middle East; and Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, a first-of-its-kind theme park that showcases rides and attraction based on some of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters. It will also host the LEGOLAND® Water Park, the region’s first water park catering to families with children aged 2-12. The entire destination is connected by Riverland™ Dubai – a uniquely themed retail and dining destination, and guests will be able to stay at the Lapita™ Hotel, a Polynesian themed family hotel part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.

Sharjah, December 19, 2016 – Sharjah World Championship Week is supercharged with the start of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro Circuit World Championship 2016, where 54 racers will competeat Khalid Lagoon.

 

The Aquabike Championships returns to Sharjah for a second year after the huge success of last year’s event. The Aquabike World Championship which has a huge global following is a Jet Ski race that attracts the world’s best riders for high speed racing and also includes breath-taking aerial acrobatics in its freestyle category. Dubai, UAE, 18 December 2016: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has received HE José Eugenio Salarich, Ambassador of Spain to the UAE. Salarich led a delegation of the largest Spanish companies. The delegation included Eric Robina, Economic and Commercial Adviser to the Spanish Embassy in the UAE. The visit enhanced relations and cooperation, and exchanged skills.

The Spanish delegation included Solana Cruz, Business Development Manager of the UAE and Oman at Ibanjua, Jesús Sancho, Managing Director for the Middle East at Acciona, Marcus Gallego, Director of MENA Business Development at Acciona, David De Lara Chousa, International Business Development at ELECNOR, Georgio Akiki, Energy Specialist at SENR, and Adrian López, Managing Director TSK Middle East. Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at DEWA, also attended. Al Tayer welcomed the Spanish ambassador, noting the strong relations between the two parties that has proven successful in many fields. Al Tayer also noted DEWA’s commitment towards collaborating with Spanish companies, to enhance partnerships in the field of clean energy.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s most important development projects and strategic initiatives, in adherence with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Al Tayer also talked about the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is managed by DEWA and is one of the largest single-site strategic renewable energy projects in the world, with a total investment worth AED 50 billion. The solar park is based on the independent power producer (IPP) model, with a planned total capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW) by 2020 and 5,000MW by 2030. Al Tayer noted that the 13MW first phase became operational in 2013. The 200MW second phase of the Solar Park will be operational by 2017, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. Dubai has set a world record by obtaining the lowest price globally, at USD 5.62 cents per kilowatt (kW). The Masdar-led consortium as selected bidder for the 800MW third phase of the solar park. The consortium bid the lowest cost of electricity. The 800MW third phase will be operational by 2020. The park will eventually generate 5,000MW by 2030, which will make up 25% of Dubai’s total power output. DEWA intends to build the largest Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project in the world, using the IPP model. DEWA has released a tender for leading international CSP consultants to submit their proposals for advisory services for the 200MW first project of the CSP plant. It will be operational by April 2021. DEWA will generate 1,000MW using this technology by 2030 in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park includes a Creativity & Innovation Centre that will be equipped with the latest renewable and clean technologies to sharpen national capabilities, boost the competitiveness of business, develop new renewable energy technologies, support the overall regional advancement of the industry, and raise social awareness about renewable and sustainable energy.

The Research and Development Centre will conduct studies for industrial and social requirements, scientific research, link researchers, academics and developers, and devise strategies for innovative and productive ideas. It has two testing facilities, one for photovoltaic solar testing and the other CSP. The centre is currently testing 30 modules of photovoltaic panels from global specialist manufacturers to check the properties, analyse the results, and use them in research and development. It collaborates with international organisations on soiling and dust mitigation on photovoltaic equipment. The tests are currently being performed to set a baseline for the development of specifications, tests, and standards for photovoltaic equipment. Al Tayer noted that DEWA has achieved a number of international accomplishments, surpassing major European and American companies in different areas. For example, losses in power transmission and distribution networks was reduced to 3.3%, compared to 6-7% in Europe and the USA. Water network losses decreased to 8.2%, compared to 15% in North America. DEWA’s results are among the best internationally for customer minutes lost per year. DEWA’s figures reached 3.87 minutes, compared to 15 minutes recorded by leading utilities in the European Union. The visiting delegation commended DEWA’s efforts, and expressed interest in contributing towards DEWA’s ongoing projects in the fields of clean energy. The Spanish delegation also expressed interest in exchanging skills, information, and techniques, in efforts to achieve the sustainable growth of the Emirate.
